Brewster Standard On Line
The Brewster Public Library is pleased and proud to offer the on line edition of the Brewster Standard. The Brewster Standard was the newspaper which covered  the Village of Brewster and the Town of Southeast  from 1870  to 1982 when Emerson Addis, a young printer, came from Appleton, Wisconsin to start a new newspaper.  It not only reported news from  Brewster and Southeast but also Tilly Foster, Sodom,
Patterson,Carmel, Mahopac, Somers, North Salem, Croton Falls and  Danbury, Conn.  Many people eagerly awaited the weekly edition of the Brewster Standard to see if their births, wedding or other events in their lives were printed. Emerson  Addis and his daughter, Marjorie, known as “Marj” to all, did most of the writing, editing, printing and delivering of the Standard from 1870 until 1982 when fire destroyed the building on Main Street.
